Or can&#8217;t find one in the dropdown?<\/strong><br \/>Just search by <em>typing a keyword<\/em> into the box (like &#8220;carpet&#8221; in the example above). You can also press the Search button to see what things you can claim on each of HMRC&#8217;s expense categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Need to make a new supplier?<\/strong><br \/>Simply type in their name. It&#8217;s also handy when your screen is too small to fit the calendar on side-by-side.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the calendar itself will let you find a date easily and skip months forwards and backwards. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<div style=\"height:136px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"parts\"><strong>Parts of the entry boxes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>These descriptions are here to aid those using the web app and the click-and-point help.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"receipt-customer\">Customer<\/h3>\n<p>Select a customer from the dropdown list or search by typing their name.<br \/>If you haven&#8217;t yet made the customer, just type their name and save the transaction. You can add more details later on in the <a href=\"https:\/\/calcal.uk\/help\/webapp\/people\/customers\/\">Customers screen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"receipt-description\">Description<\/h3>\n<p>Put a description here. It can be anything that describes this income &#8211; what job was done or why you were paid.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"vat\">VAT<\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re VAT-registered, you&#8217;ll see a VAT entry box. <br \/>If you enter the net amount first, this will pre-fill at 20% and the amount and received boxes will include the estimated VAT. You can always change either the VAT or the Net boxes to the correct amount and the VAT box will fill in the difference.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"receipt-received\">Received<\/h3>\n<p>How much of the amount have you received? If you have not been paid yet, enter 0 here and CalCal will let you send the customer a statement showing how much they owe you.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"expense-category\">Expense Type<\/h3>\n<p>See <a href=\"#exp\">above<\/a> for an example of searching for a new expense type by keyword.<\/p>\n<p>CalCal sets your accounts up with a few pre-set expense types, based on your business type. When you click the drop-down box you&#8217;ll see these and any other ones you&#8217;ve used.
